Meet the Doctors
Meet Dr. Robert Rozbruch and Dr. Austin Fragomen of the Hospital for Special Surgery. This short documentary explores the origin of the Institute for Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction.

Femur Lengthening
This animation, narrated by Dr. Austin Fragomen, shows the retrograde technique for lengthening a femur using an intramedullary nail.

PreOp Education
Dr. Robert Rozbruch shares information about limb lengthening surgery, and the internal magnetic lengthening nail.

Internal Lengthening
The PRECICE internal lengthening nail can be inserted into the bone for lengthening without an external fixator.

Sam's Story
A brief, patient centered documentary about stature lengthening surgery performed by Dr. S. Robert Rozbruch. PRECICE Internal lengthening rods were used to help Sam grow 3 inches (7.5 cm).

Tibia Lengthening
This short animated video, narrated by Dr. Robert Rozbruch, describes a tibia lengthening surgery using the PRECICE internal lengthening rod.

Live Surgery
A live surgery performed by Dr. Robert Rozbruch showing antegrade femur lengthening using the PRECICE magnetic remote controlled intramedullary nail.

Limb Lengthening with the Precice Nail
Limb lengthening with a fully implantable remote controlled rod has been available since 2012 and is a major advance in limb lengthening surgery. In most cases, the femur, tibia, and even the humerus can be lengthened without the need for an external fixator. The internal rod is a magnetic telescopic implant that is accurately lengthened with a remote control. The magnet spins and accurately turns a gear which elongates the rod and lengthens the bone.
In comparison to external fixation, the bone lengthening process is much more simple, less painful, has fewer complications, and has a quicker recovery. Our experience has been very positive and we have published these results. In summary, the bone healing, accuracy of lengthening rate, and ability to maintain joint mobility have all been excellent.
